Vaping Freedom: How Liberty Allows the Community to Grow
“Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation and freedom in all just pursuits.”
“You can’t separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom.”
“Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom.”
The 4th of July is not just a day for lighting off fireworks, eating BBQ, and celebrating Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith; It’s also the best time to remember the reason why so many people fought valiantly for this to be an independent country: Freedom.
Living in a country where so many freedoms are readily available to the average citizen since birth, it can be easy to forget how special these rights really are. Free speech, assembly, and access to information are just a few of the many things U.S. citizens have that so many across the world wish for every day. This country is not perfect, but its focus on creating a safe place where people are allowed to live their lives as they please will always be a strength.
In many ways, you can say that freedom is what has allowed this country to prosper. As suggested by Albert Einstein in the above quote, the United States has encouraged innovation and greater good for all of humanity by believing that when people are left to their own devices they will more-often-than-not set about in producing ideas that further our collective utility.
This is very much what we have seen with the development of the vaping community. Even though the original invention came from an engineer in China (a country not known for its human rights), it was still made possible by one man being able to use his personal freedoms to create a new product.
The product turned out to be not only useful to him, but also to millions around the world. Through the miracle of the internet and free access to information, people were able to discover this revolutionary new technology and a community began to grow, finding new and exciting ways to build on Hon Lik’s original discovery.
Today, we can see the amazing end-result of allowing people to access and experiment with vaping freedom. Everyday more people are turning to vaping as an alternative to smoking cigarettes and when they make that decision they are greeted by a diverse, vibrant and passionate community made possible by free access to a new hobby.
Remember, vapers; this is what we are fighting for when we rally against governmental legislation that seeks to treat vaping the same way as smoking and to limit flavor access for adults. Personal freedom is what has made vaping great, and personal freedom is what we can never stop pushing for.
Have a happy 4th of July and vape on!
