  • Steve Lanham says:

I’ve used both white out and ecto cooler in a poly propylene tank with no issues.

    • admin says:

So have we. We also get reports that say otherwise.

      • Jarla says:

Almond flavor have cracked two of mine plastictanks ,they “melt” in a strange way.
Now i use Mini pro Tank (glass) whith no problem.
        Add Almond to the list!

      • Chet says:

Will they kill my i clear 30 tank would like to know i just orderd demon and double apple just woundering befor i get them if i should go out and get a glass tank but i love my iclear 30 on my svd

      • M.wHite says:

Plz add afternoon delight to the list- my t3s doesn’t like it ;( some etching started occuring within hours-
but its one delicious vape! (Not sure if its mentioned on the product page) i know people use this list as a quick reference. Thx!

        • Thank you for the heads up. I will add it to the list. So sorry it happened to you! Thanks for being understanding. πŸ™‚

        • Jackson says:

Any vape liquid that cracks a plastic tank makes me wonder about its safety and what it will do to my throat and lungs.
I love Afternoon Delight so am reluctant to give it up. On the other hand, plastic tanks present their own problems: they break easily, and they interact with vape juices to produce a plastic flavor.

      • Dawn says:

I’m notorious for killing e-tanks. I do have one pyrex tank, but for some blends, I prefer the “pull” of my plastic tanks. I order them in bulk quantities. πŸ˜‰
I am noticing, however, on the list of tank-breakers, that they all seem to be highly-sweetened flavors. Is there a chance that it’s not so much the flavor, and the sweetener IN the flavor that does it? My maraschino cherry did melt the tip of one of my tanks–bizarre.
I’m going to experiment with using Stevia as a sweetener. I’ll report if it ceases to melt & break tanks.

      • sixbussas says:

So glad I found this…just wish I had read it before ordering the black clove and hot tamale. Hot tamale (cinnamon) cracked and broke my tank after a few pulls. So bummed, as it was my new favourite and now I have nothing (yet) to vape it in. πŸ™

    • James says:

I have been using Ecto in a Poly tank for about 6 months and its starting to fog the plastic but never cracked it

      • jim says:

Im pretty sure that fog your seeing is the juice eating away at your tank. Same thing happenes to me with a i16s except when i added a little pina colada to my other juice in the tank it started to eat away at it within an hour. I tried scrubbing the tank and than soaked it and it did nothing so i did a quick google search.

    • James Bergholt says:

I used it in my nebox for months until it fogged and then put crack lines through it. The tank on that was suppose to be crack liquid safe even though a type of special resistant type of plastic. Killed my favorite mod!

      • Claude says:

Sorry abought your Nebox. I know I love my Nebox so muck I have 3 of them. I have been making my own juice now for 5 years I am new to Mt Baker’s site but. I have made a lot of the flavors on the list and never cracked a tank I do not like the red hot or cherry but a lot of the others I do make. And I do not want to crack a tank so this is a good blog.

        • Steve says:

I also have a Nebox but was looking forward to putting something fruity in it… Are there any fruity liquids that can be put in the plastic tank?

        • Nick says:

I’m on Nebox #2, Bloodbath fogged the first but Spew is fine in the new one. Wicked wee setup, but if the tank fogs again it’s Cupti o clock.

    • Jackson says:

After reading these comments, it appears that plastic tanks are not a good idea. Since they interact with a long list of vape juices, it is entirely possible that they put the plastic into our throats and lungs.
Since vaping is a new and not researched industry, we early users are taking risks without knowing the consequences.
Therefore, we must be cautious. Clearly, heated plastic is not a good item to be smoking; so, for me no more plastic tanks.

  • Joshua haney says:

I’ve been vaping key lime out of my vivi nova mini plastic constantly had some in my tank for 3 or 4 days, no issues yet (knock on wood)

    • admin says:

      Great to know! Thanks πŸ˜€

      • Christian says:

I had literally filled my MT3 with Key Lime (1 extra shot) 5 minutes before it broke. Right where the tip bells out into the tank body. The crazy thing is that the two pieces wont even fit back together, its almost like the edges have been etched. But it tasted great for those couple vapes!!

  • Denise Green says:

I have used Monster, Mango, Green apple, and a couple others with no issues . Except the Green Apple made the plastic look a little foggy. So I didn’t use it in the plastic after that. But I am still using the tank. No cracks or nothing,

    • admin says:

Yes it really depends on the plastic that the tank is made out of.

      • David Belko says:

You say it depends on the “Plastic the Tank is Made Out Of”, why would you purchase inferior Plastic Tanks from you supplier??? I Do Like ordering from you guys, but what the hell? Why would you sell a product that can not be used for most every flavor that currently exists for Vaping? This is a serious design flaw that must be made right! I feel like a shmuck for purchasing a second one now. The directions should read fill 1-3 times with any e juice, then throw the unit away. Can you at least sell just the tank part so we could change them out between filling?

        • James says:

We sell over 300 flavors so a majority of them can be used in this kind of setup. Very sorry for the troubles but we are going to be bringing in more glass options.

          • yaway says:

Go get’em james! I was just checking the evil crackers list prior to a fill on a questionable tank and may I say kudos to you sir for dealing with david belco… what a herb ass pair of clown shoes… I said it so u dont have to… my good… surely I jest, but I envy your patience and appreciate you constantly updating the list for everyone. There are tons of innexpensive tanks privy to cracking, if you dont know, put it in glass or polypropylene, or atleast educate yourself as we should all do, but dont blame the juice, blame the game! Keep ur head up james! Thanks again, mix on team baker!

          • Philip Moyer says:

I have a V2 cig and use their X-Blank clearomizers. Will they crack if I get any of the flavors listed above? I’m very interested in getting Mount Baker Vapor and really have my eye especially on black licorice. And does the chance of one cracking increase with added shots? I assume there is no problem if cartridges are used though I prefer clearomizers. I do plan on getting the Halo Triton and unfortunately will have some problems with a number of flavors.

          • If they are a plastic clearomizer they may possibly break with any of the listed flavors.

          • nita says:

can you sell the plastic to replace … that would be great.. I would buy them… that way we wouldn’t have to buy the whole tank just the plastic part that cracks.. I would buy a bunch of them.. I have the glass tanks and I just prefer the other.. I think it smokes better and taste better .. just my opinion but I bet others feel the same as I do.. I would love to be able to buy just the plastic part that cracks.. not the whole tank.. I know that volcano does this.. but I wont purchase anything from them…

        • Carol says:

David, sorry but before you go yelling at these people you should read up on the tanks that are out there.
Polycarbonate is that main plastic for most of the tubes, and then comes polypropylene, this plastic handles the tougher juices that these people have posted on their site, then last you have glass, nothing will crack that.
But please read up before to give these people such a hard time and putting them down. oh if you scroll up you will see a link they have put in so you can see the tanks they have that wont crack..
          Happy Vaping David !!!!

          • aris says:

Unfortunately a small drop onto any hard surface will crack any glass tank, and in my case – the Kanger Protanks pyrex glass. There’s a reason that part is easily replaceable, and it’s not to change colors. However, I’ve never been able to link any specific juices to the cause; it just seems very fragile to me.

      • James Bergholt says:

Not really dependant on what you use. The NeBox is suspose to be safe for all with its special plastic tank and redhot cinnamon melted the crap out of it! Glass is the ONLY safe material for everything

  • Roxxanne says:

I’ve used the Morning Vape in a Vision CE5 and had no problems at all…

    • admin says:

Thanks for letting us know πŸ˜€

      • Debra Smith says:

Banana pudding will crack one very quickly and just as soon as you pour it in the top will fall off, also fire and ice some of my tanks cracked some didnt but all tops came off went thru 5 before I new the ejuice was doing it I just thought a bad batch of clearomizers

        • I am sorry Debra, but I am a little confused as to what flavor you are referring to? We have several banana flavors including Banana, Banana Cream Pie, Banana Split, Bananas Gone Nuts, Banana Nut Bread and Bananas Foster. At this time we do not carry a Banana pudding flavor.

  • Shay says:

I’m currently vaping Ecto Cooler in a poly propylene tank, no issues so far. Been only 24 hrs, will update.

    • admin says:

Yes I have run ecto through my Kanger T3 plenty of times and it was fine. Have just learned though that it is impossible to say what plastic tanks will work.

    • James Bergholt says:

Give it time. I vaped Arctic Heat for a month before it melted my tank and my tank was supposed to be safe for tank cracker liquids. Damn it I loved that flavor!!

  • Tina says:

Most “tank-cracker” juices will be fine in polypropylene clearos/tanks (polypro is the plastic that looks frosty when you buy it). The actual clear-as-glass plastic is polycarbonate, a different type of plastic all together (and the stuff of CE4s, T3s, MT3s, etc)

And I can confirm the root beer will etch/fog up a polycarb clearo. It was worth it =D My root beer now lives in a polypropylene tank and we’re both happier for it.

    • admin says:

Yes we will also have the Kanger ProTanks in a couple of weeks which will be glass. These will be able to handle anything! πŸ˜€

      • Tim says:

Excellent! Saw PBusardo’s review of them and they look to be very useful, especially with the variety of coils available. πŸ™‚

    • Charley says:

No issues with Root Beer in many months using a Kanger T3. Black Licorice fogged it almost immediately. No issues with Root Beer in many tanks. I also have several glass tanks but always seem to go back to my T3.

  • kris says:

FWIW, I got some Razzle Dazzle as a free sample and vaped all 15 ml through a f16 tank with no issues.

  • Brenda says:

Just curious…what is different about these flavors that cause the problems?

    • admin says:

It is not the flavor that really causes the problem it is the type of plastic that is used to make these tanks. If you never want to worry again pick up a Pyrex tank like the Kanger Protank

      • John says:

If these flavors will melt plastic, could they be harmful to inhale?

        • James says:

We like to compare it to orange juice which would crack the tanks the same way. Is orange juice unsafe to ingest? There have not been any long term studies done though so we do not want to make any claims.

          • MarkP says:

I think your point should be taken one step further.

Orange juice is perfectly fine to ingest.
Orange juice which has been put into a polycarbonate container is likely not that great to ingest. It is no longer pure orange juice, since it also has dissolved plastic in it.

If a juice cracks a tank, or fogs it, I would hope that it doesn’t get used by anyone in a plastic tank. I wish you would actively discourage people from using any tank-cracker juices in polycarb tanks, even if they haven’t had problems with them. It is likely that in a PV the dissolved plastic components are bad news.

Please e-mail me if you would like to continue the discussion!

      • mike says:

The Davide protank is a really good tank, but I don’t think you all offer it. it is similar to Kanger protank. Pyrex tank, Breaks down so you can clean it. I love it have had no problems with discoloration or cracking. I purchased it from local shop, Covalvapes.

      • James Bergholt says:

So true Pyrex or NOTHING to be safe!! I lost too many tank with all safe kinds of plastic!

  • Catherine says:

What type of plastic is the T3 made of? I just read you vaped your ecto juice using your T3. That is good to know. I have been vaping your ecto only in a boge carto for fear of ruining my T3.

    • admin says:

I am pretty sure these are polycarbonate plastic.

      • Catherine Rice says:

thx – for the T3 info. U are lucky the ecto hasn’t cracked your T3. I haven’t gotten the nerve
to try any ecto in my T3 yet.lol. I did buy a pro tank. Was really disappointed in the draw b/c all I got
was air when I vaped and practically no vapor. But someone on ECF recommended wrapping the threads with plumbers tape and then opening up a little space for air movement, which I did and now my ProTank vapes great.

  • Jim says:

Just unboxed a new iclear 30 and loaded it with Ruby Red Grapefruit. It literally split in half in two drags. Should have paid more attention to this page πŸ™‚

  • Ron Crane says:

I use Amaretto juice in parts of a DIY blend and notice using the mini nova tank it ” feels ” sticky on the outside…is this from ” leaking ” though?

  • Ron Crane says:

I’ve used 100% Amaretto in CE4 ‘s with no problem…..whats the difference in the CE5’s ? I’m on a testing experience regarding Cartos with my new EGO as you might tell by my latest orders. Liking the mini nova, the KangerT3 is ok ,not as strong a vape as the mini…now gonna try the dual coil cartos.

  • Catherine Rice says:

I’ve vaped nearly 30 mls of peach juice in my mini vivi nova and it has not adversely affected my tank.

    • admin says:

That is great. These are things that have been reported to us. We do test when we get reports in but a lot of these flavors we have been unable to reproduce the same results.

  • Light John says:

Amaretto just cracked an Evod for me. FYI.

  • Meyan Lewis says:

add Sucker Punch to the will crack plastic cartos list

  • Kent says:

I had some Blue Ice in a Kanger T3 tank, and the next day…the clearo started leaking and gurgling. Changed coils, changed coils, etc…and no luck (had to throw it out). I have had a mix of half afternoon delight and half peach in a clearo with no probs (plus the mix of those two is really tasty).

    • James says:

      Very strange indeed.

    • jenna says:

i just thad the coils in my aro pyrex fail twice with the monster with 2 flavor shots. its weird because ive been vaping monster for over two months and no problems till i added the 2 shots.

      • James says:

Extra shots can gunk up coils faster due to the higher percentage of flavoring added to the base. Sorry for the troubles.

    • James Bergholt says:

I never had a problem with my T3 using Blue ice. Maybe it was a freak thing. Alot of tanks leak and gurgle. Just a defect in the tank, bad seals. I have vaped for two years and seen plenty of Kanger duds. Worst co in my opinion

  • Mowgli says:

Bananas Foster fogged two mini Vivi Novas on me. Not made them hazy. Made them totally non-transparent.

  • Chris says:

The banana split started tasting really bad (burnt rubbery) in my vivi nova 2.5. When I unscrewed the bottom cap I could actually feel the tank cave in a bit and it was warped beyond repair πŸ™ It vapes great, tastes great in my stardust clearomizer though. Glass/metal tanks seem to be the way to go I guess. We live, we learn.

  • Laura says:

We have enjoyed the Sample Farmers Market but It dose crack tanks. it Cracked my husbands tank. Thought id let u know.

    • James says:

Yes this flavor will crack tanks. Once I have the names of all the freebies we sent out this month and we add them to the site they will be on this list.

  • luciana says:

Expect anything Tropical or Citrus will fog & then crack your PLASTIC Tank. It will even Melt the Plastic Tip Plug. In addition Clove Juices will also Crack Plastic(my personal exp.). This is what made me research the topic. Its just better to avoid the headaches & get a Glass-Pyrex Tank. The best I’m told is Kanger but I can’t personally vouch for that yet.

    • James says:

Yes metal cartomizers will work too.

    • Kelly says:

I vape quite a few clove flavors in various clearos including an Evod and Vivi Nova, never had cracking, melting, fogging, etc in over 100ml of liquids through each. Very interesting to hear some have trouble with them.

      • James says:

There are so many different kinds of plastics out there we like to have a general list as a warning base for our customers. It is good to hear it did not hurt your current plastic models πŸ™‚

        • nita says:

are there any glass tanks that use dual carto’s.. I am talking about the long metal carto’s … I like the flavor and smoking experience with them.. I don’t really care for the wicks and no wick carto’s.. .. its seems there are none. As you can tell I am not very experienced with this stuff yet lol.. I would be greatful if you could tell me if there are any

  • Nick says:

I have salacious strawberry and rad energy. Obviously I know the rad cracks the tanks but we have just went through 4 tanks in 4 days with the salacious strawberry. All kanger t3 tanks are broken from that. I think it’s clearly the vape. I’m very disappointed so far.

  • Scott says:

I notice that neither Dutch Apple Pie nor Cinnamon Roll are listed even though they both have to contain at least some cinnamon. So are these flavors really safe in a Polycarbonate tank like the Kanger EVOD? Anyone with personal experience?

  • Caleb says:

I am new to vaping and just placed my first ejuice order and am a little concerned. I have the Halo Triton system and never heard of this cracking plastic problem. I just ordered the Black Licorice juice and am worried it will crack my tank. Am I right to be concerned?? Any suggestions??

  • Laurie says:

Do you guys know if Wintergreen is ok to use in clearos? Specifically, the Kanger T3. I’d hate to wreck the tank right off, and it might be a bit before I can grab a Protank.

  • Bob M says:

I bought 50 ml of Key Lime to use in a Kanger glass. The Kanger worked well the 1st tank, barely produces any vapor now. Don’t want to be stuck with juice, so going to try in plastic. Wish the Kanger worked better.

  • Cherie says:

Hi James! Should Cinnamon Roll be on this list too? I’ve only been vaping it from my Protank since seeing all the other cinnamon flavors on this list so I can’t say I’ve actually *tried it* in a plastic tank. Anyone?

  • Chris says:

Sad to say that the Banana Creme Pie is starting to fog up the vivi nova tank. It took much longer than the Banana Split did though. I’ve ran at least 5 tankfuls through now, but yes, I can see that it will fail shortly. I’m guessing that any liquid where banana is the predominant flavor will have this issue now πŸ™ Excellent flavor on both though, and I have some pyrex tanks coming in a few days which should solve the problem.

  • Amy says:

Add Cherry Limeade to the list of juices that crack plastic tanks. It completely shattered my vivi nova that I had just bought at the flea market & it wasn’t even on the list of juices to be cautious of. That’s my only complaint. However I am new to the world of vaping. Just wish I could order one of those new Kanger Pro Tanks now. What tank would you recommend me ordering in the meantime that is high resistant?

  • rex says:

I have a MOD that only fits a vision mini vivi nova. Had tried ecto cooler and cracked instantly. Whats some good juices I can order from here thats okay with this tank? Im mostly a fruit, candy, juicy type of flavor person

  • David says:

My wife and I have been running Morning Vape and White Out through CE4 Stardusts and EVODS and no issues whatsoever.

  • Jason Chui says:

    Hi James,

Understand that some flavour may have chemical reaction with plastic tanks and thus the pyrex tank recommendation, ie, Kanger Protank.

The question I am wondering is that the bottle that is shipped your liquid is plastic to begin with. In that case, wouldn’t the liquid is already having a chemical reaction in its storage bottle even before I start using it ?

    • James says:

The bottles are made out of a different kind of plastic as the tanks. There are different grades and qualities of plastics.

  • gary grimes says:

how about the guava flavor? will it damage tanks?

  • […] which is vulnerable to some juices — mostly cinammon and citrus), start with juices that aren't listed as potentially troublesome. Make sure your order is more than $15 after you apply the coupon code "ECF" (I think it […]

  • David says:

I tried farmers market at a local vape shop. one of the clerks had it in her plastic tank. she had been vaping it for a while and didn’t mention anything about her tank being damaged

  • David says:

Took a chance and tried Farmer’s Market and Black Licorice in my Totally Wicked dual coil RCS tank. It’s a Vivi Nova. No cracking or melting!

  • ando says:

I think these juices should come with an extra clearomizer, or protank..lol.. once I get my protank I will try these juices, for the meantime, I will stick to dfwvapor!!

  • Rich says:

    just received two new e-juices
    (1) cinnamon hot tamale, it cracked my EVOD BCC after about ten pulls at 4V
    (2) Venom, it cracked my second EVOD BCC in like two pulls at 4.8V
very upset, what is the cause of this? My local vape store has same type cinnamon e-juices and they don’t crack tanks. I guess I just want to know if these are problem flavors why doesn’t it just get fixed or at very lease put it in the description of the flavor instead of in a different place on the site due to the multitude of flavors on the hit list. FYI these are the first flavors that have cracked any of my tanks, went and got two all metal vivi nova tanks, problems solved after $30+ πŸ™

    • James says:

We have been trying to get warnings in all our descriptions. We also warn against cinnamon flavors in the letter we sent you with the order. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Ray says:

@Rex – they make metal tanks for mini and regular vivi novas to replace the tanks that are safer for all liquids, also smokteck now has a pyrex vivi nova.

  • Luke says:

The America in an 80pg/20vg mix did not harm the Kanger T2’s at all, the America 50pg/50vg did immediately react and haze, pitting a Kanger T2. Disposed of the tainted liquid since it did haze the tank, and dispose of any tanks that appear to be pitted, hazed, or milky, since the plastic has been compromised and could be leeching into your liquid.

  • Scott says:

How about a reverse list of safe juices? It would be nice to go straight to the list of juices that I can use with a CE3.

    • James says:

We are working on adding warnings to all our products. The Chinese though are pushing out glass solutions at a much better rate and using higher quality plastic. Soon this issue will no longer even exist.

  • sciha says:

Can you please list the ones that are safe to use. I’m currently using vivi nova tank.

    • James says:

Since we only can add flavors that are reported to us to cause troubles we would hate to list something that is safe to use when it may not be. Our list is compiled from reports from our customers.

  • David says:

We’ve been using Venom and Hawk Sauce in EVOD’s and CE5’s and have had no hazing or cracking issues. My wife has vaped approximately 15ml of Venom and I’ve done 15ml of Hawk Sauce so far without issue.

  • Derek says:

To the person who asked about cinnamon roll…not trying to contradict the person who said they had no problem with it, but it destroyed three of my tanks, very quickly I might add. It’s a shame since its such a great flavor.

  • […] A quick google search for the juice name and ‘cracked tank’ should turn up any reports. Mt Baker Vapor maintains a list of known or reported tank crackers, as do […]

  • Brady says:

Iclear30’s broken with ruby red grapefruit and amaretto in 2 days or less.

  • Brady says:

Yes I am aware. Didn’t know these liquids would eat plastic though until it happened.

  • ryan says:

Maraschino cherry and Thug juice broke 2 brand new evod tanks in less than 15 minutes, Just an FYI to anyone who’s brave enough to attempt it

  • Julian says:

The Amaretto juice broke a New Vision Victory BCC carto within 20 minutes. Tried it on another. Same thing. Don’t use this juice with non glass/pyro tanks.

  • shannon ross says:

The reason this is so enigmatic is that the culprit would appear to be natural oils, but also ketones used in an endless number of artificial flavorings. Avoiding citrus isn’t a sure bet. Going to another supplier won’t help. Regrettably, even tying to make a list is likely a futile effort. Chances are, the flavors which won’t react with polycarbonate are in the minority. It appears that in many cases it is simply a matter of which flavors react severely with pc and which are in the ‘not recommended’ range.

    • James says:

It is just safer and easier to use pyrex. Then there are no worries about melting or cracking πŸ™‚

      • Shannon Ross says:

A local shops touts their T2 clearos as being a mix of PC and PP plastics, which in theory could be resistant. I ran most of a sample of America through mine and it’s still working fine at least, but I probly wouldn’t run a strong citrus or fruit flavor through or even leave america in too long. But hey, we can be pretty sure 555 and nutty flavors and such are fine in those clearos, and those are the one’s I’m most likely to vape, so still works for me. I’d be careful of stuff with a lot of vanilla extract though.

how about a list of those flavors known NOT to crack plastic tanks? personally i dont have any issues with any juice as i use only stainless and pyrex tanks ( why spend all that money to buy good mods and buy cheap plastic tanks?) but im sure those guys who have tank cracking problems might like a list of those flavors who are known to been safe in plastic. i mix all my own stuff and use only lorann candy oils and everyone ive given refills on juice to with plastic tanks has never had a problem with cracking, wth the exception of spearmint, cinnamon oil, sassafras wintergreen, tangerine and a couple ofthers any oil thats natural oil based will crack a plastic tank, and at the very least frost it inside, but once that happens its just a matter of time. buy tanks with pryex and youll never have a problem.

as faras the the guy who has problems with his protank burners, they are garbage out of the box. get into rebuilding your own taks and youll never have an issue after that. remeber, in a protank. 1.7-1.8 is the magic number on your resistance, and vape around 3.0-3.3 volts.

How it works is we do not know what will crack a plastic tank so as it gets reported we add it to the tank cracker list. We would never want to promise anything we do not know for fact. There are to many different types of plastic for us to test every single one. Some plastic also holds up way better then others.

When I placed my order. I got the Vanilla Tobacco and got a free Candy Cane sample. When I placed the order I explained I use a ce-5 plastic tank. It’s not the Candy Cane I am writing about, even though I can’t vape it in my tanks. The Vanilla Tobacco is fogging my tank in 1 day and breaking seals.. Weirdly the Vanilla Tobacco taste like pure clove!?! Wondering if I could have gotten the wrong flavoring? No vanilla or tobacco *at all*. Been vaping for 3 years now and am use to the diversity in liquid. As it steeps the clove only gets stronger. Thanks for any reply.

    • Adam says:

I would like to delete my previous comment. I realized I mentioned the flavor more than the effect it had on my plastic tank… My only point was the Vanilla Tobacco seems to fog my ce-5 tank along with slowly leak through the seals. My interpretation of the liquid doesn’t apply to this page.. I mentioned the flavor thinking it might be clove affecting the tank? I love your company and will return for more liquid! Going to have to get a Pyrex tank just to be safe πŸ˜‰ Thanks for all the dedication to quality liquids.

    • Adam says:

I’m very sorry about this. I seem to be wrong. I read this page after trying to fix a tank. It seems like condensation inside the tank. The leak is probably unrelated. It is a new tank, yet the ce-5’s are cheap ones. I jumped the gun after reading about “fogged” tanks, while looking to see if Candy Cane was in the comments. Again sorry I do not believe the liquid to be the reason. If you don’t mind taking down my comments it would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • We do have several juices that do not crack tanks and are still either $4.99 or $5.99 for a 15 ml. Also are list is a compilation of flavors that our customers have say crack tanks. But everyone’s experience is different some people have problems and some do not. It really varies from person to person. We just try to warn people so they can have the best vaping experience possible.

We also have tanks that are pyrex that don’t crack no matter what juice you put in them. They also hold more juice then the plastic ones. I hope this helps answers your questions. Let us know if you have any others.

  • Scott says:

Is Thug Juice really a tank cracker? I vaped 50 ml of it without knowing it was a tank cracker and had no problems. I just ordered 236 more ml of it and was wondering if it’s on this list by accident? I also ordered Black and extreme ice but i’ll be safe with those.

    • Yes, customers have reported that thug juice can damage plastic tanks. However, this varies from vapor to vapor. We just like to be overly cautious in warning people, so they can have the best vaping experience possible.

No issues with Root Beer in many months in several T3 tanks. Black Licorice fogged the tank immediately, but didn’t break it. I also have glass tanks but I always go back to my Kanger T3. Love those little tanks, and they’re cheap as well!

I’ve had some very cheap plastic tanks crack almost immediately with different flavors – the ones that come with a new Vamo for instance. I wouldn’t ever even bother with those again.

Glass tanks are getting cheaper, the new mini pro-tank from Kanger is pretty sweet, and under $20 retail. The only draw back is that it doesn’t hold a lot of liquid. Pro-tanks are nice, but delicate. The bases break easily if you knock or drop the tank. Use it with the collar or “beauty ring” to help keep the base from snapping off. Replacement bases are also available for less than $2.

  • MarkP says:

Sweet Cherry Bomb is also a tank-cracker. Tried it both straight, and just a few drops in another flavor. In both cases the CE4’s cracked around the top or bottom ring). I suspect it’s the same flavoring as the marascino cherry?

  • Rick says:

I sent in a report about Tidal Wave via e-mail but I still don’t see it on “the list.”

I ran 3 fills of Tidal Wave through a Kanger T3 and it kept getting “weepier” on the outside of the clearo from one tank to the next. I thought I was just being sloppy or something and couldn’t figure out where the liquid was coming from.

At the end of the third tank it was so bad I cleaned the plastic tank well, did a close inspection, and found cracks in the plastic all around the base, where the plastic tank meets the metal support at the base. Some of the cracks are so deep it looks like it’s ready to break off the base.

I don’t know exactly which flavorings go into this one but it has a mint (double mint?) and a lemon in there so… Surprised no one else has run into a problem yet.

  • jWal says:

I’m sorry I didn’t take the time to read every comment on this thread, but what I came here to mention can’t be stressed enough.

Nobody should be inhaling liquid that comes out of a polycarbonate tank. Any plastic that falls under codes 3 and 7 leach harmful chemicals into whatever they are carrying. Polypropylene and glass are perfectly safe. Also, if you haven’t already, please read up on the effects of milky, creamy, buttery, and custard type vapes. I’m posting from my phone currently so I don’t have all the info me but there is “potentially harmful” ingredients these types of flavors that can be harmful when inhaled.

Again, sorry to cry wolf and not back it up with sources. Pull out your Google-fu and do a little research, I had my vapor world turned upside down.

I have had prob 2 minis 4 reg sized novas the kanger and the aspire (only about a week) and I break them ALL! Actually the kanger never broke it just upreformed poorly all around. Is there an all metal tank or on that is tough as nails for us clumsy users? ( I had a lanyard, but got tired of something always on my neck) the pyrex did well until I dropped it on concrete ( far and hard) but today the threads that gointo the battery actually came off! Double Mint? Seriously? I vaped it for a month straight with zero issues even with a generic T3… Now, full on citrus flavors made the black plastic mouth piece start melting almost right away even on a decent brand iClear16…

So ya, I’m gonna go with a metal/glass tank shortly but I’m still shocked double mint is on this list when I have had no problems with it or wintergreen, a much more potent mint flavor. I personally think double mint has to be safe but I appreciate this “Just to warn you” list.

  • […] Here's a list of juices that MBV sells, that they believe will contribute to the failing of certain types of plastic. Whether you use MBV or not… you can extrapolate from the list what might not be such a good idea. I think it blows that almost everything you make is no good with plastic. If it destroys plastic, it also destroys your o-rings. Some people want to use plastic and o-rings while vaping! Just am very let down by this, as I have just purchased 75 bucks worth of liquids that I can only drip. I have fried my o-ring on my 91% and killed my tank in no time flat! One day..There must be a better way. You have to make tons of money even at your cheap prices. It’s time to step up your game. Make more stuff we can use.

Yep, extreme soda made my iclear 16 fog up, and as I pulled the drip tip out, the plastic on that was melting. Kinda scary. Won’t be using that one any more…

  • jeff says:

extreme soda took out an evod2, no big loss. I switched over to t3s’s awhile back and I knew it was a risk.

figured the steel shell around the tank would keep it from cracking. =D

  • jeff says:

Michael, I’m still pretty new to this, so I was still experimenting my way around. I started out with a kangar evod kit and started upgrading. I bought the evod 2 tanks figuring the dual coil would double the vapor. wrong guess. honestly I really don’t care for the metal tips either. the t3s tanks are bigger and have better vapor than both and also have a plastic tip.

I thought about trying a mini-protank setup for laughs, but overall I like the smaller tanks more. this thing has to sit in my pocket at work so the evod setup is only slightly bigger than a marker. a t3s tank and 1100 battery is just a little longer than a sharpie and lasts all day for work. it’s also pretty bulletproof if you get genuine parts. I got some counterfeit t3s tanks once and they kinda fell apart pretty quickly.

  • jeff says:

I also thought the tank cracking issue might have been a pressure thing, so having the steel shell around it wouldn’t allow it to expand to the point where it could crack.

like I said, no big loss. I found the evod2 tanks seemed to make the vapor too hot anyway, and I really don’t care for the tip being freezing cold when you first start using it.

My wife and I are new to vaping, started 4 months ago. Neither of us have had a “real” cigarettes in that time.

We started with SMOK EGO 1300 mAh Winder batteries, with SMOK EBC tanks, from our local vape shop.

We discovered the SMOK GBC tanks, and that has been our preference, because of the greater capacity.

While we’ve both reduced our nicotine levels, my wife is still stuck on tobacco flavors. I started trying the fruit flavors.

A couple months ago, I discovered that I liked mixing another brand’s 1/2 Apple with 1/2 Peach (at 6mg). The problem is that our local shop’s supply is sporadic.

I ordered 236 ml bottles of the Mt Baker Green Apple, and Peach, and got them today.

Because of the tank cracking question, and the need to steep question, I mixed up a sample (10ml, 5+5) a couple hours ago, and filled a new SMOK GBC tank. It has NOT shown any damage yet.

I just tried it. It’s fine as is, without steeping.

As good as or better than my other brand.

I’m a happy camper, so far.

  • Duane S says:

I’ve been using my sample mix of the Mt Baker Green Apple, and Peach in my SMOK GBC tank for a couple days now.

The tank has shown NO sign of any kind of damage. I’m no expert on these things by any means, but compared to what I’ve read above, it appears that the the SMOK GBC tank is fine, at least for use with these 2 juices.

As for the Mt Baker juice itself… Well, I’m liking it much better than my other brand. And that’s without ANY steeping.

If the flavor gets any better with some steep time, then I am going to be EVEN MORE happy.

I’m just throwing this info out there for people who are put off by the “Tank Cracker” reports.

Had I discovered the “Tank Cracker” reports, BEFORE I ordered my juices from Mt Baker, then I would have been hesitant to order these excellent juices.

I’m now glad that I didn’t see those reports until AFTER I’d placed my order.

    I’m a very satisfied customer.

I’ve vaped a good handful of these liquids out of my Halo Triton tanks and haven’t had any issues with any of them but Hawk Sauce. That stuff, though delicious, will etch whatever plastic those tanks are made of with a quickness. No problems with my ADVs Afternoon Delight and Cinnatoast.

Speaking of Cinnatoast: have there been any reports of it being really hard on coils? I can get 5 or 6 ml through my Triton before bad things start happening. Pulled the wick out of the latest victim tonight and EVERYTHING came out with it. Sucks, because I LOVE that flavor and have a ton of it, but can’t afford to keep replacing coils…

    • The darker juice tends to gunk up coils faster than the lighter e-juice.

Have you considered getting something like the Subtank Mini where you can use the RDA and just swap out the cotton?

  • Chhris says:

Yep! I actually have a handful of Subs coming in the mail as we speak. Never gone the RBA route before, so it’s pretty exciting.

As for the Cinnatoast, I figured it was something like that. I’ve had some coil gunkers before for sure, but nothing like this and I just wondered if you’d heard anything about the Halos having an odd reaction with that particular juice.

Have a great day! You guys rock!

Just purchased from Volcano, but I’m unimpressed with their juice. Their inferno tank description just says “food grade plastic”. WTH does that even mean?! *sigh*

    • Amy Bohannan says:

You should have no issues at all with a Nautilus Mini on an inferno battery! We are not quite sure what “food grade plastic” means for the inferno tank either, but we would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer with your concern.

  • Vicki says:

Awesome! Thanks, Amy! Just got my first order of liquids in, and today I placed an order for a Nautilus Mini kit. I’m pretty excited! πŸ™‚

  • Courtney says:

i got mar.cherry, palmer, and sticky bun. my boyfriend and i have the same kanger tech tank only he has a “xhale battery” and i have “vcignatures”i went threw 4 in one week hes used palmer AND sticky bun. i used mara. cherry and boom cracked all 4. i wondered what was happening. his ONE tank is fine….. we ordered new kanger vapes because we assumed it was the battery…

    • Unfortunately, not the battery. The acidity in the mara cherry and other e-juice is what can cause damage to a plastic tank. My suggestion would be getting glass tanks. The Nautilus Mini is a great option for the batteries you already have πŸ™‚

  • James says:

I enjoy Green Ice and Black Ice (6%, 50/50) with no issues on my Kafun Lite with the shorty tank. No cracks, but a slight clouding. Also, I don’t wrench down on the atty when putting it back together – just enough to make the o-rings flex a bit to complete a good seal. I’ve also dropped the atty (first impact at drip tip) with an 18650 loaded Stingray X. Holding MBV juices (mainly above two) without any cracks for almost a year.
Depending on where the tank fails, it may be a manufacturing defect by the tank maker. I’ve seen some of my tanks fail along the circumference of the tank where the clear wall meets the threads. I don’t think this is because of the juice, but rather due to my over-tightening the tank and the heat from my 1.0 to 1.3-ohm coil… I’m no engineer, but I humbly present my observations for your consideration.
    James (Seattle area)

    • Thank you so much for your feedback. I’m very happy to hear you haven’t experienced any cracking issues. The clouding is a result of the e-juice eating away at the plastic however, so I would still be careful πŸ™‚ Enjoy and vape on!

  • Leonard Hayes says:

I must have an unlucky palate because every flavor I just got is on this list (60ml Zebra Stripe, Green Apple, and Peach [30ml with nic and 30 w/o for each].

It seems like no matter how long or extensively I prime my Aspire BVC coils, fiddle with wattage, or steep the liquid, I always end up with a burnt taste (I’ve tossed 5 coils this week alone).

I’d really like to fall in love with MBV because the prices are amazing. Can anyone recommend some safe juice choices?

    • What kind of battery are you using? It sounds like you have tried everything juice and tank wise and you are still having this problem. I would try using your tank on a different battery and see if you are still getting the same results!

  • Travis labelle says:

I have esmart plastic tank. I just purchased a bunch of the items on this list. Many of the flavors on this list I’ve got from other brands in the past and none have damaged my tanks yet. Only saw this post after purchasing but I guess I’ll test them out. Replacement tanks are $5 so I’ll take the risk. Guess I can look at getting glass if needed.

    • I would honestly suggest getting a glass tank like the Nautilus mini. I think you’ll be blown away by the difference. One of those things like never knowing what you’ve been missing.

  • Tanya says:

Black Jelly beans fogged a brand new tank with in a day and cracked it at the bottom the next. I love it so guess I have to invest in a glass tank now… havent seen any issues with my others yet but will let you know as I got several off your list that can damage them.

  • A.J. says:

I just wanted to let you guys know to also be careful with tanks that have glue in them. I was vaping Bananas Gone Nuts in an Aspire Vivi Nova S-Glass and the glue around the windows dissolved and made the tank leak. I’ve also had a few problems with Protank 2 O-Rings dissolving on me with the more citrus type juices like Blood Orange. I think it’s time that I either invest in something like the Nautilus or maybe even a full metal tank of some sort. πŸ˜›

  • A says:

IMO, this influx of reports is difficult for a newbie (eg: me!) to sort through. I’d like to suggest the flavors in question _themselves_ have an overt advisory. It may be also useful to link it to a list of known devices/flavor combinations for this issue… which _then_ includes a link to _this_ page for full background.

    • Kenny Spotz says:

We actually do have an on-page advisory for every flavor that is know to cause this issue. There are also links that point the customer to this post as well. Thank you for the suggestions though and we will take into consideration the need from a known devices/flavor combinations list.

  • Noah Talavera says:

Am I correct to assume glass tanks are 100% invincible to tank cracker flavors? I got the Innokin MVP Box 3.0 kit that came with a glass tank.

  • Anna R says:

So it wasn’t me screwing the tank on too tight… I just had a tank full of Wild Cherry and wondered how the hell it could have broken up on the top.

This is the second plastic tank I’ve broken in three days. The first broke near the base and melted somehow…there was a mix of USA Menthol and Wild Cherry in there. So now I know it’s the damn Wild Cherry.

    • John Swanke says:

Sorry to hear about this happening to you. Please always consult with your vendors about possible tank crackers when ordering juice. Sounds like it might be time to upgrade to a more durable tank if you want to keep enjoying the Wild Cherry.

  • Joe Vuotto says:

I have a theory as to why some juices react this way to the plastic tanks by cracking or other damage as some are experiencing. I ‘ve worked with all kinds of plastics for many years, I am in the sign business, we use poly propylene based high impact plastic which when heated to form letters, or is cut with a computer controlled router the plastic or what we call polycarb
is polished by using a high temp degree torch on the edge to make it crystal clear, changes the properties of the polycarb plastic and if you use an alcohol based cleaning fluid to clean the plex it immediately crazes it
and cracks where it has been heated. So I have also experienced this cracking on my vap tanks when I ordered some cherry juice from you guys and as soon as I filled the tank it cracked it and fell apart.
I suppose when they manufacture these tanks the are formed by heat vacuuming in a mold and that once heated compacts the molecules even more and if an alcohol based product like glycerine, which is a trihydric alcohol, is one of the ingrediants in the vap juices it will damage the polycarb tanks.
here is a sciencetific explanation of glycerine: C is trihydric alcohol. Glycerol is a chemical compound with the formula HOCH2CH(OH)CH2OH. This colorless, odorless, viscous liquid is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations. Also commonly called glycerin or glycerine, it is a sugar alcohol and fittingly is sweet-tasting and of low toxicity. Glycerol has three hydrophilic alcoholic hydroxyl groups that are responsible for its solubility in water and its hygroscopic nature. Its surface tension is 64.00 mN/m at 20 Β°C and it has a temperature coefficient of -0.0598 mN/(m K). It is a central component of lipids.

I am not a scientist but I have seen what alcohol based liquids can do to polished polycarb.
    Solution: Use Glass Tanks.

  • terri says:

Really Enjoy the flavors but all have ruined many tanks!!!Melted the plastic,so it it a risk to me??worried!!!

    • John Swanke says:

Well, if your tank is cracked or melted it just won’t work right, and you’ll probably be leaking juice. If you enjoy these flavors so much it might be time to upgrade to a glass or pyrex tank.

  • Kendell R. Rawls says:

I also had “afternoon delight” cause my t3s tank to leak then soon after the metal tube broke loose. A friend had gave me about 5mg to try it. so it works its damage fast.

  • Marlee says:

I’ve tried all of these in my plastic tanks, and have has no cracking, or fogging at all. Perhaps I’ve just been lucky. I love Mt Baker Vapor…I on’t go anywhere else for my vapo stuff!!

  • TomK says:

Since the list is so extensive, why not list flavors that DO NOT have a chance of cracking the tank. Would be much easier to go straight to those flavors.

  • April says:

Vanilla tobacco – left some in a kanger evod tank for a while, came back to find the telltale spiral crack around and up the tip .. πŸ™

Noticed this with another flavor once, it seems to be more likely when leaving the juice in the tank for long periods. Makes me wonder if I should just empty them out if they are going to sit. Any one know about this?

  • Chrissy says:

Am so pleased to read you will be stocking more glass tank options. I ONLY use menthol-based vapes and have had 3 plastic tanks (Kanger Evod) crack and split – plain ole menthol and Extreme Ice seem to do the most damage! (Scarily my teeth are starting to feel over sensitised too). Hope there’s not a connection to the vaping flavours I use!

    • Tim Mechling says:

A wise choice, when it comes to glass tanks and menthol. I doubt flavors will damage your teeth, so long as you stay vigilant with oral hygiene! You know those dentists, always wanting us to floss and brush more!

  • scott says:

I just placed my first order and i was wondering if cotton candy would crack the plastic ones. I am going to order a glass one but need to wait a few days

  • David says:

My plastic mouthpiece literally cracked and melted into my mouth while vaping Freckled Lemonade after I stupidly ignored the warnings, heh…

I believe that Citric Acid may be used in the sour flavors and is what is causing a reaction with the plastic tanks. I didn’t see any Kanger Evod Glass Clearomizers for sale here so I had to order one from another site. May be worth it to start selling that here?

  • Thomas says:

Are there any flavors that FOR SURE won’t break a plastic tank? because anytime someone has said something on here it turns out MT Baker replies and says, oh it could happen. I have the haze dripper tank which has the plastic juice well and i want to use a juice that won’t crack it i don’t care the flavor

    • John Swanke says:

I would stay away from the more citrus-y flavors and the ones that are listed here in this blog post if you’re worried about tank crackers. There’s just a lot of variables that will play a role in whether or not your juice is a tank cracker it’s hard to say for sure which ones won’t break a plastic tank.

  • Nicole says:

Amaretto cracked my Kanger T3 tank, just fyi πŸ™‚

  • Heidi says:

Cin City melted my tanks, and now I just ordered the French Toast without even checking the list, and hoping it doesn’t melt my tanks. I have both glass and plastic, but I seem to get more vapes/cloud with my plastic tank. Interesting I thought.
What would be the next level for my “pipe” as I put it. Currently I am using Kanger Tech,-Evod VV. I would like something where the battery actually last.
My Evod does not hold battery life for more then 2 hours, and I have two of them. One is charging as one is being used.
Kind of disappointed that the battery doesn’t last.
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sabrina says:

What causes the tanks to melt or crack? If it does that how safe is it to smoke?

    • John Swanke says:

Certain flavors are more acidic than others and will cause this to happen to plastic tanks. If you’re worried about tank crackers I suggest upgrading to a glass tank as they won’t be effected by tank crackers.

Only one I have had problems with was fireball witch I love, don’t understand how banana would ruin tanks.

  • Clyde says:

For everyone concerned with plastic tanks, if you know what types of chemicals are in each flavor, it is very simple to choose a plastic tank that will not cause and issues nor will it break. Look up the IAPD and do some research. You could make a tank out of Polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) but it would be expensive and fairly soft unless it were 30 percent GF, and it would handle anything you can throw at it just about, be easy to clean, and unbreakable.

  • Connie says:

I use an eGo ONE MEGA tank with a Joytech eVic VT, it has a glass tank I have had no trouble with it, no matter what juice I’ve used in it. I love it and highly recommend it. Also the battery when fully charged will last almost 2 days. And it uses the same charger as my phone.

    • Tim Mechling says:

The key word here is “may.” If there is ever a case of an e-juice cracking a plastic tank, it is our duty to inform our customers. Since I switched to a glass tank, I haven’t had to worry about e-juice cracking my tank. Just my own clumsiness!

  • Debz says:

The only juice to ever crack my tank was cherry limeade, but I loved it so much that I finally just switched to a glass tank so I could vape it. We started with Mt Baker juice when we switched from analogs to vaping, and we’ve never tried a juice with better flavor at such an awesome price. The juice always ships fast for us and our orders are always perfect and awesome. We ALWAYS tell people we know who vape, or who might want to vape, to order juice from Mt Baker!!

    • Josh Hanna says:

Thank you for referring us! A lot of the new tanks switched from plastic to glass tanks for this reason. I love a lot of the citrus flavors and I know half of them will probably crack a tank πŸ™‚

  • Nuwan says:

I recently ordered 236 ml bottles of Pina Colada.
The question I am wondering is that the bottle that is shipped your liquid is plastic. Is it advisable to store juice in original bottle for a long time period till I finished it or should I change liquid to a glass bottle ?

  • Sakda Detsouvanh says:

  • Abhinav Jain says:

Hi I am using the Kangertech NEBOX does it also fall under the category of plastic tanks coz as far as I know it does not have a pyrex glass. also can I use the liquids mentioned above in it or not?

    • Josh Hanna says:

It is a plastic tank but it says it has a crack resistant tank. I do not know if I would trust it but I did read other people were using acidic flavors in it and it doesn’t crack.

  • Emma says:

do plastic tanks affect the flavor of eliquid? i switched to plastic after shattering my glass one but i feel like the flavor is less strong with the plastic one

  • Evan says:

i have been using the MT3S tank forever now, and i strictly vape on Extreme Ice only….and my tanks last about 6 to 8 months before they start to crack a teeny bit. Those tanks are large, long-lasting and very inexpensive! I guess I’m old-school! lol

  • Scayde says:

This is the first thing I have seen that scares me about e-cigs (I’ve Vaped for 9-10 years now and have recommended it to patients who are trying to quit smoking)

My concern is if any of these products can melt plastic, what are they doing to lung tissue?

  • Julio says:

I used Strawbana and Thug Juice , in my plastic tank and it causes no problem to me .

  • Opal says:

I can’t say I’ve ever cracked a tank but I sure have had the plastic tips snap off on some Iclear 16’s.. cinnamon roll was their downfall.

    Hey, Mt. Vapor,
First off, thanks so much for hosting this comment section.
Second, Please list the most recent entries first.
Third, please let us know your thinking about federal regulation of the vape industry. It appears to me, given all these comments about interactions with a long list of flavors, that plastic tanks are the problem, not the vape juices themselves.

  • Taylor says:

I recently purchased the Suorin Air. I have always used peach flavoring because I used to smoke peach prime times. Peach is on the list of flavors not to use in polycarb tanks. Do you have a recommendation for another juice with a somewhat similar flavor that you know doesn’t cause issues with this type of tank?
