Good morning everyone out there in Vaporland! Here at Mt Baker Vapor, we have an awesome option for you to create flavors that are exactly what the doctor ordered. DIY Supplies allows you to customize your flavor, blend, nicotine and even add extra flavor shots if needed. This allows for some amazing flavors to be created, as well as some not so amazing ones….but not to worry, I can help you avoid flavor catastrophe with these DIY pointers.

Update: As of August 4th, 2016, our DIY supplies will no longer be available. We apologize for any inconvenience.

My years of bartending have given me a unique working knowledge of flavors and mixing. I personally love tasting new juices, and then spending time trying to pick out the flavors bold and subtle within the juice. I am very immersed in the vapor lifestyle and my friends and I are always trying each other juices and offering feedback. Making your own flavor can set you apart from the crowd. I have friends who mix, and I have seen the frenzy of vapors who were pretty much beating down the door to get a bottle of their custom juice. Needless to say, their cool points are through the roof.

What can be a blessing as well as a curse, is the fact that everyone has a different flavor palate. One person’s favorite flavor can taste like pool cleaner to another vaper. I have tasted flavors that remind me of childhood memories of swimming at the YMCA, and according to the creator it was blueberry scone flavor.

Another thing to consider when creating your own juice is if you will be using it in a tank style or mechanical mod. Not all vaping platforms are created equally. Day to day, I see a lot of variation in blends. Not just the usual 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 mg in 50/50 PG/VG that has been the industry standard for the past few years. I am seeing 0, 3, and 6 mg in a 20/80 PG/VG or Max VG to accompany the previous nicotine run. High PG liquids are for very specific vapers. What is beneficial about high PG is that you can still get a throat hit with a lower nicotine strength. I find that this is ideal for those customers who are having a harder time getting off the analogs. Especially if they are looking for the closest thing to smoking, VG gives you the sweet, velvety cloud that makes you smile.

When creating a custom flavor, start off with the knowledge that most liquids contain between 15% and 25% flavoring. You can then kind of play around with what percentages of the liquids you would like the flavor to have. An example is two parts flavor A, one part flavor B, and one part flavor C. This, of course, is a very simple way of looking at it. There are as many flavor recipes and combinations as you can create. The smallest change can be that little extra. I personally add marshmallow to almost anything I make because I think it gives the sensation of the vape being wet.

We are always here to help you with your DIY questions. We can share our opinions and comments, however, remember that it is ultimately up to you. As always, whether we make the juice for you here at our facility or if you make it at home, please remember the importance of allowing your e-juice to steep. I have always used the hot water bath to jump-start the process, however, the best method is to just to put it aside and come back in a month.

Just getting back into vaping and I was sorry to see your DIY supply section gone.

The Build Your Own E-Liquid was a custom creation, per customer specifications. If we were to mix and sell a Build Your Own E-liquid, we would be violating the FDA regulations, and could be harshly penalized. This is because a Build Your Own liquid would constitute as a new tobacco product every time we mixed a new bottle, which is not permissible.
