Dear Summit – DIY Juice [UPDATE]

Hey, vape fans! I am back with another edition of Dear Summit where I answer your questions.  This week, we will be looking at DIY or (Do It Yourself) juice.  This can be tricky; the process can take some time and ingredients, but the juice you make will have the features you give it.

Update: As of August 4th, 2016, DIY supplies will no longer be available. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What You Will Need:

We will start off with the ingredients that you will need.  For the e-juice, you will need:

  • diluted nicotine
  • propylene glycol
  • vegetable glycerine
  •  flavoring

These can be purchased from us online.  You will also need bottles to store the finished products.  I would also suggest wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when dealing with nicotine.  If it gets on your skin, it will absorb fast and can make you sick.  The protective gear I would suggest, at minimum, is eyewear and gloves.

The Process:

First, you will need to determine how much nicotine you want in the juice.  The easiest way to do this is to order Unflavored E-Juice from us with yourPG/VG ratio and nicotine level.  This will make it so you do not have to do all the math and conversions needed to get the right blend.

Second, you will need to choose the flavorings you want in the juice.  This can be any combination of flavors, but we suggest keeping it lower than six flavors. Otherwise, it will get muddy and taste odd.  You can find recipes online and see how other people mix different flavors.

Third, since you have you flavors chosen, you can now add them to the empty bottle.  We suggest starting at around 10% of the bottle.  You can work your way up if you find that the flavor is not enough.

Fourth, fill the rest of the bottle with the premix unflavored juice.  Leave a little bit of room in the bottle so you can shake it up.

Lastly, TRY IT OUT!  See how you did.  You can adjust the mixes as you wish and see what works for you.  Some of the flavors you will need to steep for a little while just like normal juices. Keep in mind, steeping will change the flavor of your DIY E-Juice dramatically. Check out our step-by-step guide!

This is the easy way to make DIY juice.  You can find the nicotine and vg/pg broken down and mix those yourselves if you want but since we are here, why not make us do the work.  Hopefully, this has helped everyone out with DIY juice and you all keep trying new things!  Vape on, fans… vape on.

Now all Mt Baker Vapor needs to do is to sell measuring supplies. What the article doesn’t say is you need some way of measuring the parts, the flavoring etc. Sure you can just throw stuff together as the post seems to suggest, but you will get better results by actually measuring things.

    • Josh Hanna says:

John is absolutely correct. I didn’t mean it to sound like that. I did say start with 10% flavoring and go from there but it would be a lot easier with a syringe. So if you are doing a 30 ML bottle, you would need 3 MLs of flavoring. Good catch!

      • Catherine says:

You say to start at 10%, but when you buy the flavorings, they say to use at 15-40%. That’s a very wide range. When working with a 50ml bottle, 10% would equal 5ml, meaning 1/3 of a bottle of flavoring, so I could make 3 x 50ml bottles. If I used the suggested minimum of 15%, that would equal 7.5ml, which is 1/2 of a bottle of flavoring, so I could only make 2 x 50ml bottles.

So, which % do I go by? What’s listed on MBV’s page, or what you’ve suggested?

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

    That sounds cool

  • Matt says:

    Can’t wait to start DIY

  • Mary says:

Just wanted to add that you can buy syringes at the pharmacy in the baby section. We have found the ones meant for measuring cough syrup work well for this. It’s an inexpensive way to get started.

  • Bishop says:

Interested in trying, but I’m still too hooked on Mt Baker’s Strawbana

    • Josh Hanna says:

That is a great flavor. You can always order that and grab a 15 ml at the same time and dabble in DIY juice.

  • Ralph says:

Your flavor is made of PG and your unflavored eliquid can be ordered to personal preference i.e. 80VG/20PG so when adding flavor it will raise the PG % if im not mistaken? should i lower my PG so that when I add the flavor its right where i like it. Ex: order max VG then add flavor to get 80/20?

  • Steve says:

I’ll leave the mixing to you guys. Prices are great, and I always get what I’m expecting without trial and error.

  • Steve says:

I thought about doing this, but I would rather leave this process to the pros.
