The Hobby of Vaping

You’re all a bunch of quitters! That’s a good thing. Nobody wants to smell like an ashtray all day, and the known health risks of smoking traditional analog cigarettes is enough to make anyone rethink their habit. As many of us have discovered, there is much more to vaping than simply quitting analogs. A whole host of options opens for you after you’ve scratched the surface, and you begin to discover the passionate culture that underlies the market.

Once people have experienced the enjoyment of vaping, many of them begin to explore new ways to enrich their experience. I first started vaping just under two years ago. I walked into a local drugstore, and walked out with a Menthol Blu Disposable. At the time, I was in the process of quitting cigarettes. The label said “Good for 400 puffs,” so I thought that this device should last me for awhile. The disposable unit only lasted me for two days. I’m not sure exactly what constitutes a ‘puff’ in Blu’s eyes, but I certainly didn’t feel that it lasted nearly as long as I wanted. I was working at a call center for a major cellular phone network at the time, and the stress of the job was definitely impacting my resolve to quit smoking. Nevertheless, I continued to follow through. Puffing on Blu’s, and trying to get over the hump. It wasn’t going very well for me.

I got a call from a friend of mine, and I found out that he was working for a local startup company that sold electronic cigarettes. I asked if they were hiring, and he gave me the contact info for the owners of the company. I sent through my application and after about a week, I went in for an interview. It was during the interview that my world opened up to all the things that vaping could offer. There I was, with my basic Blu 510 battery, and the owners and supervisors were using these exciting devices with digital displays and tanks that held a substantial amount of liquid. Not only that, but they had flavors that absolutely blew me away. No longer was I confined to menthol, tobacco, coffee and vanilla flavored e-juice. There were literally hundreds of flavors available to me.

I started working for Mt Baker Vapor the very next day.

I began to explore all of the different hardware options available. Regulated batteries, mechanical batteries, top coil tanks, bottom coil tanks. My horde of electronic cigarette accessories began to grow. After about 3 months of exploration, I began to discover the wonder of Rebuildable Dripping Atomizers (RDAs). RDAs are the next step in maximizing your vapor experience. I’ve never had bigger clouds than on my RDA. You can get so many different experiences out of different styles of coil. It’s just unbelievable. I have been on a mod hunt for sleek and cool set-ups, and my collection is growing.

Vaping is more than just a way to quit; it’s a hobby. You can channel your creativity, find a mod that compliments your style, mix a flavor that matches your unique tastes, and even build your own to suit your needs. The rabbit hole runs deep. So go out there, and find something that works for you.

  1. I couldn’t agree more. For me it started three years ago when I stated using an Ego e-cig and now three and a half years later not only have I quit analog cigarettes, but I am knee deep in the hobby and the culture. I love it because there is never an “end” to it. It’s a journey and you discover new e-liquids, coils, mods and it’s just never ending which makes it awesome. Great read.
